DIY - TINSEL HEELS FOR NEW YEAR'S
It's time to let your wild side out! To sparkle and shine! To be a walking tinsel tease! New Year's Eve is tomorrow darlings and I hope you have a shimmery outfit ready to razzle dazzel 'em. If not, you're in luck. Some leftover tinsel from Christmas and an old pair of heels are all you need to glamorize your NYE outfit. Pair these heels with a simple black dress to make a statement or go all out with a sequin or jeweled number.
I've been eyeing these Rochas Tinsel heels for quite some time and while decorating for Christmas, I came across leftover tinsel purchased a few years ago from IKEA. My DIY wheels began spinning and my glue gun was sizzling! Below are all the supplies you'll need for my Rochas inspired heels!
- Old pair of heels
- Tinsel streamer
- Glue gun
Begin by measuring your toe strap and cutting your first piece of tinsel to match that length
Repeat step 2 if you plan on covering both straps on the heel.
Apply a liberal amount of glue to the edge of your heel strap.
Before securing your tinsel to the glue, fold a tiny bit of the edge of the ribbon in then secure in glue. This will ensure your tinsel doesn't unravel. Secure the rest of the ribbon to the stap, running the glue across the top and securing the other end the same way you did the first.
At this point you can leave your heels as is (Step 5) or take it up a notch and apply the remaining tinsel to the other straps on your heels.
Your tinsel heels are ready to party!
