DIY HALLOWEEN COSTUME - DIANA ROSS

Where do I even begin with Aunty Diana? Yes, she's my Aunty, can't you tell?! Sophisticated, talented, stylish and oh so glamorous!

Many refer to her as a diva and while there are sometimes negative connotations to that word I think she's the kind of diva you'd want to be. Beyond the lights, sequins and soothing voice, Ross embodies joy that is almost indescribable. Through her music, acting and incredible sense of style, she's brought happiness to many, including myself.

As a little girl, I would sit and admire the album covers of many of Diana's records from Mom's LP collection, gazing at those bright eyes and glorious head of hair. How could you not?

Today I get to live out a childhood fantasy of mine; dressing up like Diana. I hope you enjoy my tribute to the original glamour queen and diva, Diana Ross.

p.s. Thanks a bunch for Tracee. She’s as exceptional of a woman as you are!

Almost everything I have on is from my closet so this was an easy and inexpensive costume to put together. I'm wearing a vintage dress, gold disco earrings I've had forever, gold heels and a poufy shawl made out of tulle for that Ross glamour.

To make the shawl, I simply threaded a large-eye needle with some skinny ribbon and ran it through the center of 20 yards of tulle, pulling & gathering it for a ruffle-life effect. This helped to build the volume and give it that poufy look.

I applied my makeup to mimic the 70s with blue eyeshadow, red glossy lips and bright red rouge on my cheeks. I also glued on some long red nails because this DIY girl can never keep her real nails long on account of all the projects I tackle.
