A few weeks have passed since my Aruba trip and it's now starting to heat up in NYC! When we got back from Aruba, we were welcomed by hot summer-like weather which made me very happy. It felt as though I had brought the good weather back with me, however, a day later NYC reminded me of who she was. It got chilly again!
Yes folks, my space heater, furry bedroom slippers and coat were in full effect again and I was bummed. Now, a couple weeks later, we're starting to feel the heat and all I can do is think about the sun, sand and all the fun Mildred had getting ice-cream.
While in Oranjestad, Mildred (my Retro Alter Ego) decided to visit the local gelato shop for a bit of our (I mean "her") favorite sweet treat. It has become a tradition to get ice-cream when we travel and she did so in modern-vintage style of course! Mildred rocked a retro style ice-cream print pinup top, high waisted paper-bag trousers in red gingham, clear jelly flats, retro cat-eye sunglasses, vintage red and white striped button earrings and a vintage french folding basket.
Gelatissimo is a gelateria in Aruba that serves homemade-style gelato. We visited the one in Palm Beach which also serves beverages and meals. Mildred had two scoops; ferrero rocher and rum raisin in a freshly made delicious waffle cone. Isn't the tropical-fruit decor against the purple wall darling?!
Yes I had to stop and take a photo near this matching check tablecloth.
This vintage basket is perfect for traveling! It collapses flat and took up little to no space in my luggage.
Be sure to also check out Milly's ice-cream outing from last year in Cartagena if you haven't had a chance to do so yet. My blogger babe LaNatria Ellis aka Caribbean Cowgirl calls her Milly for short and I think it's the cutest nickname!
p.s. LaNatria knows how to rock a mean red gingham and this is one of my favorite looks from her!
