Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and will have a good start to your Monday. Today, if you couldn’t guess by my post title is my actual birthday! I’m grateful for another year and wanted to share this special moment with you as well.
As some of you probably know, I moved from Guyana to New York almost 14 years ago to attend college. I left part of my family behind and over the years we’ve had times when we couldn’t all be in the same place to spend special moments together. Last year (just a few weeks ago 😅) was the first time in a long time where we got to spend more time together and it was a joy & blessing for everyone. We even ushered in the New Year and then kicked off my birth-month celebrations!
For the last few years my niece always gets dressed up and sends me a photo greeting for my birthday but this year I was overjoyed about being able to celebrate together. My big sis Kassy baked me this amazing Carmen-Miranda chocolate layered cake and let me tell you I was blown away. Can we take a moment to give her a slow clap for this incredibly beautiful cake? It’s stunning in person, yummy and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to cut into the face!
My niece and I were delighted by it and partied away to some Carmen tunes before lighting the candles, blowing them out & sticking the cake (her favorite part). I often joke around and say my sister made my child because we’re alike in so many ways. She’s my tiny angel and I will cherish this moment forever. I don’t want to type too much so I’ll wrap this post by saying I’m truly grateful for another year of life, thankful for my family & friends, happy for good health and an abundance of love all around.
