SOMETIMES, SLOW IS NECESSARY ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡

Happy Monday darlings! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today Iโ€™m jumping into a quick discussion about slowing down in life. At the beginning of the year I set a goal to release two posts per week and was excited for the challenge. I was committed to doing the work for my blog in addition to a few other goals but life happened. As much as I wanted to push through and keep creating content, I knew it was not in my best interest so I decided to slow down to take care of myself and prioritize my health. It was difficult because I have a pretty committed work ethic but this time around in my life I simply had to make the choice to listen to my spirit.

While in slow-mode, I began reading โ€œItโ€™s Not Supposed To Be This Wayโ€ by Lysa Terkeurs and in it she says, โ€œWhen you suffer, slow becomes necessary. Slow becomes good โ€ and โ€œWhen you live slow for a season, the Son (of God) has access to the parts of you normally covered by every day put-ons.โ€

This statement was reaffirming to my choice on taking things slow which meant being present to what I was experiencing and also putting a pause on busy work. I stopped blogging, came off social media & delayed the launch of my new shop Lillian & Joan which was the most difficult one to do. I even attempted to push through with the launch but ran into a couple technical issues that delayed the process so I stopped resisting slow all together and will continue to give myself the space and time needed.

As I continue to trust God and gain a bit of daily momentum, my new goal is to post at least once a week until I feel ready to create more content so stick around because I have a lot of good things to come.

Iโ€™m still working on getting the shop fully set up and will share more on that soon but for today I want to share these words of encouragement to anyone going through a difficult situation. Please know that itโ€™s okay to slow down in whatever way necessary and allow God to access those covered up parts of you.

p.s. This post was initially titled โ€œPeach Polka-dots and Purple Pumpsโ€ but I got to writing and decided a slow-inspired title was more suitable. I hope you enjoy todayโ€™s retro look brought to you by Mildred (aka my #RetroAlterEgo) and her little Dita-bun, lol.

I also rounded up vintage and modern pieces for you to get the look, so be sure to scroll to the end of the post for that!
