MILDRED IN MEXICO CITY🍦 🇲🇽

Hello darlings! Welcome to the new week! It’s Mildred here ready to serve you up some retro style from my recent trip to Mexico City.

While exploring the Condesa neighborhood, I was sure to stop for my favorite sweet treat at Nivería Roxy - an ice cream parlor and soda fountain that was founded in 1946 by Don Carlos and Doña María; a husband and wife duo who created vast flavors unique to their home and were known for being friendly with everyone that visited the parlor.

I actually experienced this same kind of friendliness from a couple of strangers, mainly a super sweet woman, who was eating her ice-cream as well. The woman became my Spanish translator and teacher while I decided what to order and even helped me understand all the flavors listed in Spanish on the menu and explained if I wanted two scoops it would be better served in a longer glass bowl since the fruit ones melt fairly quickly. She even got the servers to give me all the samples my ice-cream loving heart desired and I ended up with two of my favorites, passion-fruit and chocolate which were both so delicious.

I was so grateful and will always remember this stranger’s simple act of kindness.

Of course, I had to wear something cute with my retro jelly accessories to get sweet treat. It’s a bit of a tradition whenever I travel as you’ll see at the end of this post!

My fruity romper & raffia belt are both vintage while the rest of my accessories are retro-inspired modern pieces. Talk about Modern-Vintage; Tropical-Glam Panache!
