FRIDA FASHION

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Today, I’m keeping it short and sweet on the blog with an outfit I wore in Mexico City back in March. I snapped a few phone pics at the Airbnb and figured I’d share this look, inspired by none other than Frida Kahlo.

I didn’t want my outfits to come across costumey so I used elements of Frida’s aesthetic and symbolism of her artistry to create this look in my “Artist’s Way” theme. I chose a black and white brushstroke dress as my basis and began the creative process of outfit planning. I didn’t want to do the typical flower crown either so I opted for a braided updo with a  vintage scarf and bold flower pom-pom earrings. Leopard mules and cat eye sunglasses were the perfect print addition and I completed the look with vintage bangles and my Frida purse.

Let’s talk about that purse! How amazingly amazing amazeballs is it?!!!!!!!!! It’s a piece I will forever cherish because Kassy, my fabulous big sister made it for me. Yes you heard that right, my sister did the damn thing!!!! She’s like a modern day Martha Stewart y’all and I swear there’s nothing she can’t create. NOTHING (including fabulous 5 course meals and the bestest Niece an Aunt could ask for)! She’s blessed with so much creativity, it amazes me!

I could go on and on but I said I’d keep it short so enjoy today’s look and be sure to check out the widget at the end of this post in case you’d like to shop similar pieces. The dress is under $25 and linked!
