TRYING PATTERN HAIR PRODUCTS

THE EXPERIENCE

Although we’re going through a challenging time in our world with rampant racism and a pandemic, I want to take a moment to embrace joy and highlight this uplifting experience.

Through a Pattern Beauty sweepstake, I received an incredible opportunity to watch The High Note and invite a few of my best girls to hang out with me and THE Tracee Ellis Ross on Zoom chat! Okay, let me pause and squeal in excitement again!

I also received a gift of juicy hair products from Pattern and decided to film my first time trying but before we get into that, let's jump back to the Zoom hangout with Tracee! On the call we talked about all that’s currently happening in the country & around the world, laughed about our new favorite movie The High Note (watch it if you haven't) and took time to honor & remember our sister Breonna Taylor who was fatally murdered by police while sleeping in her home. Tracee was actually preparing for the #SayHerName: National Town Hall for Breonna Taylor that was happening right after our call and graciously shared a beautiful letter she had written for Breonna. You can watch the town hall video here and please also take a moment to learn more about Breonna’s story and sign the petition demanding justice for her as her murderers are still walking free.

The evening was filled with vulnerability, authenticity and sheer #BlackGirlMagic. Thank you so much Tracee & Pattern Beauty for this moment we will never forget!

THOUGHTS ON THE PRODUCTS

I don’t usually create a lot of beauty/hair content but I’ve been meaning to try Pattern for quite some time and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I’m mostly a wash and go kinda gal so shampoos, conditioners and leave-ins are very important in my routine. Overall, I really loved the Pattern products. I’m not a hair expert so can’t speak much to the specifics of the ingredients but I had no issues and loved how they made my hair feel, look and smell. You can find each product’s details listed on the website.

Hydration Shampoo: The shampoo had great slip, lathered well and made my hair feel super clean!

Medium Conditioner: This conditioner was very hydrating, smells divine and the jumbo bottle is the perfect size because my curls are always thirsty and in need of hydration. I have the heavy and intensive conditioners as well and can’t wait to try those, especially in the colder months.

Shower brush: Where has this shower brush been all my life? It’s super sturdy, detangled my curls so well and is honestly now my fave shower brush.

Microfiber Towel: The towel was super super absorbent & gentle on my curls, like nothing I’ve used before and I can definitely say my current turban hair towels have nothing on this one’s quick drying capacity. My only wish is that they create a turban version that I can use to quickly wrap up my hair.

Leave-in Conditioner: This is my favorite from the products I tried. I saw immediate definition when applied to my curls and now I definitely want to try mixing with their jojoba oil hair serum as suggested on the bottle. I added some gel from another brand to my curls but didn’t use as much as I normally do and was so surprised by the definition yet softness of my curls. Next time I may apply more leave-in conditioner and skip the gel to see what happens. I would definitely say I needed a bit of serum for moisture and shine since my curls seemed a touch dry the next day but that might be due to the gel as well as second day hair.

The products smell amazing and my friend and beauty blogger Casie describes the scent perfectly in her review as light and like a men’s deodorant which usually has a name like Arctic Wave or Cool Rush. I was so pleased with the overall results, I decided to purchase some items from Pattern’s recent phase 2 launch of styling products! I got gel, hair cream, hair spritz and edge control. Can’t wait to see how those work with my wash and go as well as styling!
