DIY - WOVEN INSPIRED WALL HANGING

Hello darlings! I trust you're having a good day. As you probably know already, I create a monthly DIY article for About.com focused on home decor projects. I really enjoy doing these projects but sometimes my busy schedule doesn't permit me to get as elaborate with my craft projects as I'd like. I work a "9-5" so I'm often trying to squeeze in as much creative time when I leave work and on the weekends. For this reason, I try to keep my projects as simple as possible. I imagine your life is pretty busy as well so I keep that in mind when putting together these projects. I want you to be able to complete the DIY and be happy with your final piece!

I made this simple woven-inspired wall hanging for the month of May and it took me about 15 minutes altogether. This piece can add a pop of color and texture as well as an interesting, handmade design element to your space.

MY FIRST DIY POST ON ABOUT.COM HOME

I'm so excited to let you know I am now a contributor for About.com's home vertical!

I met About.com editors Jeanine Hays and Bryan Mason of AphroChic at the Blacks In Design Conference this Summer and was super elated to chat with them. I've followed and admired their work for quite some time so having a conversation was dreamy! We spoke about design and at some point I expressed my love for DIY projects. They we're really interested in seeing my work and after a lovely conversation back in NYC, I agreed to create DIY content for About.com. I was a bit nervous about the opportunity but more excited and grateful than anything else. Thank you for the space to share my perspective on DIY Bryan and Jeanine!

DECOR SETS: JUTE HERRINGBONE RUG 3 WAYS

I started using Polyvore about 6 years ago and decided to give it another shot recently. I felt like I was back in college and got carried away creating style boards this weekend. I also created  a few decor boards and wanted to share them with you. Today's decor boards feature a versatile jute herringbone rug styled three different ways.

The first board is my favorite and I want my living room to look like this. The chesterfield sectional, chandelier and gold coffee table add lots of glamor to the space while the banana leaf plant and Slim Aarons Poolside party photography provides a cool tropical retro vibe.
